Over-hyped vs. over-the-hill: Kimbo Slice set fight Ken Shamrock on October 4th
Shamrock welcomes opportunity to test Kimbo's mettle

| With an MMA record of 3-0, Kimbo Slice, right, is still learning his way around the cage. |
After months of speculation, EliteXC heavyweight Kimbo Slice has an opponent for his Oct. 4 date at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla.
Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, will face veteran mixed martial artist Ken Shamrock. The fight will air on CBS.
There had been talk of Slice facing Brett Rogers. Tension between the two began on May 31 in Newark, N.J., where Rogers made disparaging remarks about Slice's performance against James Thompson.
After Slice and Rogers exchanged words, it was widely believed they would face each other this year. But after much deliberation, executives at EliteXC decided on Shamrock.
"Ken Shamrock poses serious threats to Kimbo Slice's maturation in the MMA game," EliteXC vice president Jared Shaw told ESPN.com. "He is a veteran of the sport and widely considered one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time.

| Ken Shamrock can't wait to get his hands on Slice. |
"It's an enormous fight to the casual fan as well as the hard-core fan. The hard-core fan, they've grown up with Ken Shamrock. He will be looking to put an illustrious finish on a storied career."
Shamrock, 44, will look to end a five-fight skid with a win over Slice. In his most recent fight on March 8, Shamrock was stopped during the first round by Robert Berry. Despite his slump, Shamrock is confident he can handle Slice.
"I welcome this opportunity," Shamrock said. "Kimbo has had some success. He's big, he's strong and he hits with his heavy hands, but anybody that is a veteran in this sport understands that unless you have a lot of time in the ring, you have not been tested completely.
"Kimbo's ground skills have not yet been tested, and I have the ability to test him. He hasn't seen anything yet."
The 34-year-old Slice is undefeated in three sanctioned mixed martial arts fights -- he defeated former heavyweight boxing champion Ray Mercer in an MMA exhibition bout on June 23, 2007. But Slice received lots of criticism after struggling to defeat Thompson.
Slice started strong in that bout, but as the fight wore on he showed fatigue. By the second round, Thompson was able to control him on the ground. Some ringside observers, including Rogers, claim Slice tapped out at one point.
However, Slice would survive and land several hard punches in the third round that caused blood to flow from Thompson's left ear. A Slice right hand would stagger Thompson, leading referee Dan Miragliotta to stop the bout.
Rogers, who stopped Jon Murphy in the first round on the undercard, had harsh words for Slice afterward.
"I'm saying it like this: Kimbo Slice, that was just garbage, man," Rogers said. "I'm going to speak it real. You did tap. ... I saw it. I was right there."
The words nearly caused Rogers and Slice to come to blows. After order was restored, each fighter expressed interest in settling their differences in the cage.
Shaw said EliteXC was close to putting Slice-Rogers on the Oct. 4 card, but after much deliberation the promoter decided to go with Shamrock (26-13-2). Though Rogers' shot at Slice fell through, Shaw said there is no need for the St. Paul, Minn., resident to bow his head.
"His future is incredibly bright in mixed martial arts and with EliteXC," Shaw said of Rogers. "He's 8-0 and has eight knockouts. He's been seen on Showtime and CBS.
"Rogers is at the beginning of a tremendous climb. If he's looking at this situation as him being overlooked, he'd better get in the gym with that thought ... because he's not being overlooked. The Kimbo Slice fight is coming to him.
"If they both handle their business, there will be a date for them in the very near future. For the fans who wanted to see Kimbo Slice-Brett Rogers, they will have to wait just a little longer. But it will be that much more exciting."
Slice couldn't be reached for comment.
Rogers will not appear on the Oct. 4 card. He is slated to fight on Nov. 8 on Showtime, but an opponent has yet to be named.
I LOVE DANIEL!!
Awww...he's so sweet! I always thought it was funny because the roles were switched when it came to wedding plans. After reading Daniel's blog below...now I know why he was so adamant about having a grand wedding. I come from a poor background being that my mom had seven children including myself and our father passed away almost 20 years ago, so materialistic things meant nothing to us, (probably because we didn't have the luxury of even knowing how it felt to be materialistic). We were just thankful for everything we had, and the most important thing was that we had each other. I've realized that, that's the reason why I never envisioned having a glamorous wedding. When we first got engaged, Daniel couldn't understand why I didn't have a dream wedding in mind and I didn't know how to convince him that I REALLY didn't. I asked many of my friends and they all had dream weddings they've dreamt of since they were little girls, so I just figured that I had to think of something...LOL. I almost cried when I read Daniel's blog below because I didn't know that he was thinking of me when he wanted to have a glamorous wedding. During our engagement, he kept telling me that we need to save up and start planning, etc and I just kept telling him that I really didn't need a big wedding and that we should just have a really small wedding with immediate family members and save the money for a house or something. I'm so lucky to have Daniel in my life because he's always thinking of me and he always tries to make me happy. I'm the luckiest girl in the world! =)
blog for wednesday
so i had a hard time at school today. I coldn't seem to get my hair cut straight and i got so upset I had to leave the classroom. Not to mention, I couldn't get any sleep last night and it took me forever to fall asleep. So needless to say, i wasn't in the best of moods then. I am still looking for another job because I am not able to make it on the pay that I am on right now and pay for full time school.
So, I got to see my baby today. I fell asleep in his arms because I was so tried. We were laying down and talking and before I knew it, I was asleep. He woke me up and then I had to come home. I sterilized my instruments and now im just getting ready for bed. I am hoping to get this video loaded finally at least on you tube if i can't get it on here! brad and i worked so hard on it!
Ill let you all know if it gets loaded or not tonight!
The Rest of Our Weekend!
So Saturday was fun we went to the Angels game. Of course they won. It's been a while since either of us went to a game but it was fun. After the game my friend was having a sort of Hotel party so we went stopped by and said hi to everyone we stayed for a bit then went home and fell asleep. On Sunday I was kind of out of it. So we decided to go to the movies (which is one of our favorite things to do) to see Death Race and we really liked it. We are always going to watch movies. So that was pretty much our whole weekend. We didn't do too much because we are on an extremely tight budget.

A bit about me
Hi everyone;
A little about me;
I live in Canada.
I've been hooked on genealogy about 1992. My main areas of research in Canada are Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
My USA research interests are North Dakota.
My outside North America research interests are England, Ukraine, Germany and France.
My lineage is from England & Ireland to Canada.
My wife's lineage is from England to Canada and Ukraine to USA.
My English ancestors came from Hertfordshire in the mid 1700's to Nova Scotia, My 7th greatgranduncle Rev. William A. TUTTY was the first Anglican minister in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1749.
My Irish connection is on my mother's side, however, we're not sure exactly where in Ireland, possibly from Wexford.
My wife's English ancestors came from Lincolnshire in the early 1900's and settled in Alberta, Canada.
My wife's Ukrainian ancestors are really 'German's From Russia', they left the Ukraine (South Russia) in the late 1800's or early 1900's and settled in North Dakota, USA and eventually to Saskatchewan, Canada. These folk originally came from Alscae-Lorraine sometime in the early to mid 1800's.
There is a partial list of surnames on the left.
Kane vs. Rey Mysterio
What is the deal with Rey vs. Kane now? Supposedly Kane doesn't like Rey but they have been partners before and done well as a tag team so why pit them against each other now?
It seems to me they are trying for a new Rey and Batista VS. Kane and someone else. I would love to see Kane with the Heavyweight Championship Belt. It is good to see him on Raw but sucks that he is no longer ECW Champion at least.

Psycho Le Cemu-Japanese Anime Band
My new friend, Kain, just reminded me of one of my favorite anime bands. Psycho Le Cemu comes from Japan. This is an awesome video. I think the lead singer spent some time in the slammer for smokin some wackie tobackie. Ok, you can tell my age now and how far out of the night life I am. I may be old, but most say I don't look that old and I still like to have some Chinese plum wine now and then.

Waste of Talent
Hey everyone. My first blog post and I've got a few things to rant about, all concerning with how the WWE seems to waste their time, effort, and money on the wrestlers and divas that do not deserve it while the actual wrestlers and divas with talent get shoved to the side or released, for that matter, simply because the writers can't think of anything to do with the character.
1. Festus, a pretty good athlete bogged down by a tired, played-out gimmick. The man can wrestle, plain and simple. He has that country boy wrestlin' style (anyone remember the Godwins?) and yet he has quite a bit of intensity. So how do we make someone of this caliber continually looked down upon? Make him a headcase that is basically a walking vegetable unless a bell rings? Get the hell outta here! Hook him up with a decent gimmick and let him show his ability.
2. Jamie Noble, a wrestler built for a cruiserweight division that no longer exists. Why rid the company of a cruiserweight title? Imagine a few of the smaller guys (Noble, Kendrick, Mysterio) chasing that title? Those would be even matches where each could show off their abilities without being overshot or squash matches. Remember what they told Benoit about his height and look how far he went (demise not included).
3. Cherry, a normal, beautiful woman, without all the whoring and tan lines. The WWE finally had a diva that wasn't stick thin, held her own, was getting over with the crowd, and was damn good looking and what do they do? Let her go. On what grounds? I don't buy the "she wasn't thin enough excuse." Do you remember the bikini contest? Tell me she's fat and I will slap you. She had a great figure, a very innocent personality, improving wrestling skills and the fans were behind her. Normally you don't fire people that the crowds enjoy unless certain circumstance arise (drug use, steroids, etc.) Just another way to show girls across America that unless you are a model, you have no chance. That's right, girls. You better start training to become a Maryse lookalike or you'll be rejected.
4. Val Venis, a former main eventer turned jobber. Someone please tell me how one of the biggest stars in the Attitude era can be sh!tted on for no reason? The very few matches that have been televised this year have shown the crowd on his side. Can't they let him win once in awhile? Sure he isn't in the shape he was but neither is Hacksaw and he still gets victories once in awhile. Hook a brother up.
Okay, I'm done complaining for now. Anyone have any thoughts, let me know.
Shane
